Do you work with swallowing problems? Or want to? Okay then, what do you think about this statement? “We use our mouth for swallowing and for speaking, so they’re pretty much the same type of function, right?” Well, sort of. Here’s my take:
With that said, swallowing is relatively complex, extremely interesting, and although we use the same oral components, swallowing is actually quite a bit different from speaking. Effective, quality therapy requires the knowledge of underlying and relevant principles to personalize treatment.

Need the corresponding Myofunctional Evaluation?
Very easy to read and understand... love the treatment plan outline... it's a great starting point... thank you!
I absolutely love this program and the client friendly handouts used for the home program. Char, thank you so much!
A comprehensive resource for working on oral phase of swallowing. The best resource i came across during years of practicing myofunctional therapy and oralmotor difficulties. Highly recommended.
I have been providing orofacial myofunctional therapy for years. CHAR developed (and has continued to revise) at great program for those "learning the ropes" within the field of orofacial myology. I always recommend this book to the SLPs I mentor in OMT.
